Actor David Hasselhoff, famed for Baywatch and boozed-up burger binges (you remember, that video of him drunk and eating a burger while his daughter pleads with him to quit alcohol...), is coming to town! So watch out ladies (and burger joints!), this party-boy Knight Rider will be in Abu Dhabi to judge the Arab Film Studio's annual amateur short film competition.

The 'Hoff isn't the only celebrity judge on the panel though; he will be joined by Wesley Strick who wrote A Nightmare on Elm Street and Oscar-winning director Davis Guggenheim who gave us the eye-opening film, An Inconvenient Truth.

Whilst this isn't the Baywatch beauty's first time to the Middle East (lucky Abu Dhabi had him as a lifeguard on their beach for one day!) he was still as excited as ever to come back to judge the Middle East's rising stars of the filmmaking world. He said in a statement: the “Arab Film Studio is great way for any budding filmmaker to get started in the industry. I’m so honoured to be a part of this year’s judging panel and I can’t wait to see what each contestant has come up with". The Arab Film Studio, which aims to unearth new talent, returned the love by saying “we are thrilled to have such an acclaimed panel of judges for this year’s competition. It’s great to give these budding filmmakers the chance to have their films seen by industry players".

Hasselhoff and his 23 fellow judges will have the final say on giving out seven awards. The winner of the Best Film award will receive Dh50,000 to support the scriptwriting of their feature length film. The competition won't be easy though as finalists have come from all over the world, including the UAE, Egypt, UK and Netherlands.

All we can say is that we hope the Hoff's better at judging short films than he is at making them!
