Usain Bolt targets Yuvi in cricket banter

Yuvraj Singh probably had it coming. The ribbing had begun days in advance ahead of the seven-a-side faceoff against Usain Bolt, when Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene tweeted a word of warning for the stylish southpaw, who wanted to know whether he should be excited or worried with Bolt’s challenge. “I think u should be worried (sic),” the Sri Lankan cricketer advised. Bangalore: Yuvraj Singh probably had it coming.
On Tuesday evening, the banter was mostly one-way as Bolt chose to humour the crowd by picking on Yuvraj as the event progressed.
“I’m a winner. I was born a winner. He (Yuvraj) is gonna lose it (the challenge),” the Jamaican said as the crowd roared in unison.
Former cricketer and host Ajay Jadeja asked Bolt whether he had it in him to defeat Yuvraj in the Super Sixes challenge. “Look at my muscles,” Bolt said, flexing his biceps in front of Yuvi’s face as the crowd roared again. “We’ll see!” the Indian all-rounder retorted.
Jadeja then questioned the sprint king on how he had managed to get Yuvraj’s best friend and spinner Harbhajan Singh on his team. “It’s easy. He (Bhajji) knows we’re going to win. So he’d want to be on the winning side,” was Bolt’s reply. Yuvraj chuckled, nodding his head.
The Olympic champion, who sported a tee bearing ‘9.58’ (his 100m world record time), clinched the Super Sixes challenge and was quick to get on Yuvraj’s back. “I hit the longest six. I just beat you at your own game. Go home bro’,” he quipped as Yuvi padded up for the four-over match. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman then hauled Harbhajan for a mighty six down the ground, with Bolt missing the catch by a whisker. “I was just giving him a chance. Didn’t want to embarrass him in front of his home crowd,” Bolt remarked. Some supporters booed, Yuvi just smiled.
Yuvraj remained, however, the perfect host and gentleman, playing along to Bolt’s wisecracks. “I’m the bad guy here, I guess,” he said with a smile, as the crowd rose to applaud their favourite star.
