BJP chief seeks report to plan roadmap for Assembly polls

Shah, who would arrive here on Saturday evening, is scheduled to visit Belur Math on Sunday morning, and then pay homage at the statue of SP Mookerjee on Red Road. After attending the meet, he is scheduled to address a rally at Bowbazar here, campaigning for Ritesh Tewari, the BJP candidate for Chowringhee by-election.

Party sources said Shah would make “under-development of North Bengal” and illegal immigration as main agenda for the 2016 Assembly elections and stress on strengthening the cells dedicated to women, youth, minority and film artists.’

The two-day state committee meeting beginning September 6 would be attended by party general secretary (organisation) Ramlal Gupta, national spokesperson and Bengal observer Siddarth Nath Singh and Kiren Rijiju, MoS, home affairs. Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who had been slated to attend the meeting, would not be able to come, his office told The Indian Express.

BJP Asansol president Nirmal Karmakar said he had given his inputs regarding the partial attitude of police in Asansol. BJP Birbhum president, Dood Kumar Mondal said he had given a report on minority members being targeted in Birbhum by TMC leaders. Party state general secretary Ashim Sarkar said the Saradha scam had received a special mention in the report.
