Firstlook: Richa Chadda playing de- glam Paro

When Bimal Roy cast Bengali actress Suchitra Sen in the role of Parvati opposite Dilip Kumar in his 1955 Devdas, instead of his first choice, Meena Kumari, eyebrows were raised. However, he proved his critics wrong as Mrs Sen became an unforgettable Paro. She was even nominated for the Filmfare best actress award but ironically, lost out to Meena Kumari for Parineeta which was also based on a Saratchandra Chatterjee novel.

In 2002, when Sanjay Leela Bhansali's decided to adapt 'Devdas', he opted for the most beautiful woman in the world, Aishwarya Rai, to play Paro.And his Paro walked away with the much coveted black lady. Now, we have Richa Chadda playing a de-glam Paro in Sudhir Mishra's Aur Devdas. This Devdas starts out as a rustic romantic triangle set in Uttar Pradesh but developes into a gripping political thriller.
Rahul Bhat of Ugly fame, who plays the eponymous tragic hero, and Richa started shooting in Lucknow on Monday. The rest of the cast will join them in mid-September when the location will move to other regions in the Northern belt.

This is the first look of Paro from the film's set. Richa may not be a beauty like Suchitra and Aishwarya but she'll definitely be a match for them in the acting department.
