AHMEDABAD: The love story of Ajmer-basedMohit Sharma and Rajsamand'sGhazalaShaheen had a dream run — they beat death by falling in love while undergoing kidney transplant at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. They eloped, got married but their fairy tale has failed to win any hearts.
Mohit (27) and Ghazala (25) are now living under constant threat and communal hatred.
The couple is not being allowed to live in peace by their families in Rajasthan. The two have got admitted to Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre with health complaints triggered by the stress.
"My family is against our marriage despite Ghazala being converted to Hinduism. She is now Gunjan Sharma but hate seems endless — I daily get over 50 death threats on phone. They threaten to kidnap my wife and kill me."
Mohit says both families are working hard to ensure he remains jobless. "There are times when we've to sleep without food for weeks as there's no money. We are both transplant patients but there is no mercy," said Mohit as tears rolled down his eyes.
Ghazala also accused her family of doing black magic on Mohit so that they split and return home. Mohit said he had sought protection from Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, but is still awaiting her response.
