Blind students add melody to Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations

CHANDIGARH: Students of Institute of Blind, Sector 26, sang "bhajans" during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra Bhawan in Sector 19 on Tuesday.
The students were invited to perform during the 10-day Ganeshotsav.
"It is the 50th year of Ganesh pooja celebrations in the city And so, we invited our special performers. These students have been performing in Maharashtra Bhawan for the past many years," said M B Sane, president of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Samity, Maharashtra Mandal.
A group of 17 blind students performed under the guidance of their principal J S Jayara. In the end, the students were felicitated by the members of Maharashtra Mandal.
On Wednesday, an evening of "Sugam Sangeet" will be organized at 8pm.
The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations began on August 29 with "murti sthapna" and "bhajan sandhya".
