My Kollywood debut was not pre-planned: Kalidas Jayaram
Joining the list of star kids entering into films is actor Jayaram’s son Kalidas. He is being launched by none other than Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan for Balaji Tharaneetharan’s next Tamil project, Oru Pakka Kathai.
Kalidas, who has undergone a complete makeover, is excited and at the same time a bit nervous about his debut. He says, “My Kollywood debut was not pre-planned. I was waiting for a good script and then I got Balaji sir’s movie; eventually, everything fell into place.
Now I’m just hoping that I will be able to pull it off well.” The handsome young lad is quick to add that he is waiting to do films in Mollywood too. “If I get a Malayalam film with a strong script, I will definitely give it a shot,” he says.
Meanwhile, Kalidas is tight-lipped about his debut film. “I don’t have the liberty to give the details. But one thing I can assure you is that the movie will be unique, like Balaji’s last outing Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom,” he says.
Jayaram, the proud father, is on cloud nine for his son’s much awaited debut. “I feel proud and happy to witness the transformation of my little boy to a young star. And more than anything else, I am happy that Kamal Haasan has come all the way to launch him. Amidst his tight shooting schedule, he found time for it like a true friend. Moreover, the whole Tamil Nadu is eagerly awaiting Balaji’s next film. Honestly, Kalidas couldn’t have asked for a better launch than this,” says Jayaram.
Kalidas, who made his debut as a child artiste in Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in 2000, bagged the National and State Awards for Best Child Artiste for his performance in Ente Veedu Appuvintem in 2003.
Will he be able to weave magic on the screen as a hero? Let’s wait and watch.
