Allow Plus Two in all high schools: Minister
KOCHI: Transport minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who is a member of the cabinet sub-committee that drafted the list of schools that were allotted new Plus Two batches, opined that all high schools be allotted higher secondary batches.
"The educational scenario has changed. The minimum educational qualification has now shifted from SSLC to Plus Two. So, it is our responsibility to ensure that all students are provided the facility to study till Plus Two at the same school," the minister told reporters here on Tuesday.
The high court had on Monday dismissed the state government's appeal over a single bench's order that criticized the state's decision to allot additional Plus Two batches based on opinions of MLAs rather than abide by the recommendations of the higher secondary education department.

A division bench comprising Justices Antony Dominic and Dama Seshadri Naidu had termed the government's move "dubious" and directed that admissions be conducted on the basis of the interim order issued by the single bench.
Reacting to this, Thiruvanchoor maintained that the batches were allotted based on need.
"It was a need-based allotment and there was no personal or political interest behind it. Also, the sub-committee made a draft, which had no legal sanctity. The final decision was taken by the cabinet, not the sub-committee," he added.
