Rivals make up to attack Telengana Rashtriya Samiti

Congress, BJP stop criticising each other to fight common enemy
Hyderabad: With the campaign pace for the Medak Lok Sabha bypoll slowly picking up, it is clear now that the Congress and BJP, bitter political enemies, have stopped attacking each other and are targeting the TRS. The TRS campaigners, meanwhile, are targeting BJP-TD combine candidate T. Jaggareddy more than Congress candidate Suneetha Laxma Reddy.
The TRS leadership’s logic is that the Congress candidate cannot spend money and even the party cannot arrange sufficient funds for her. They are also banking on non-cooperation from leaders within the party due to internal differences and group politics.
Though the Congress candidate came second in the last elections, the TRS believes that Mr Jaggareddy would be a more formidable opponent this time than the Congress candidate. This is due to the BJP being in power at the Centre and the TD in Andhra Pradesh. The TRS suspects that there will be huge financial backing for Mr Jaggareddy than Ms Suneetha Laxma Reddy.
The TRS had won all the seven Assembly segments in the Medak Lok Sabha last time, but the leadership now fears that the BJP-TD candidate, Mr Jaggareddy, might dent the TRS’ prospects in Sangareddy and Patancheru due to his clout in the area.
Both the Congress and the BJP candidates are expecting a turnaround this time against the TRS due to factors like power and drinking water shortage. Meanwhile, the TRS leadership is heavily dependent on the “election management skills” of minister T. Harish Rao who has been made overall in-charge for the bypoll.
Sources said that Mr Harish Rao has promised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to better the latter’s victory margin of 3.97 lakh in the last elections.
