Universal Pictures International has nabbed international rights to “Sunshine Superman” in advance of the docu’s world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, it was announced Tuesday.

The Salt Company’s Samantha Horley brokered the deal with Universal Pictures International Entertainment, which will distribute the pic in all international territories. Josh Braun and Dan Braun of Submarine are handling the North American sale in Toronto, where “Sunshine” screens Thursday Sept. 4.

Helmer-writer Marah Strauch’s feature bow — which uses exclusive archival 16mm footage and new interviews to tell the story of BASE-jumping pioneer Carl Boenish — was produced and edited by Eric Bruggemann (“Why We Fight Now”).

Alex Gibney, Braun and Braun, Horley, and Phil Hunt and Compton Ross of Head Gear Films served as exec producers.
