NYC voters: Bring the 2016 DNC Convention here

New York City denizens want to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention by a wide margin, with only Republican voters saying “no” to the plan.

A Quinnipiac University poll says voters in the Big Apple would welcome the party’s nominating shindig, 66 percent to 23 percent, with Democrats in favor of it by a 78-14 margin.

Republican voters say no thanks, 52-38.

A small margin of voters, 47 percent to 39 percent, would prefer to hold the convention in Brooklyn over Manhattan.

Residents of Brooklyn and Manhattan both think the convention should be held in Brooklyn, while voters in Queens are basically split over which borough should host.

Voters say if Mayor Bill de Blasio is viewed as a spokesman for liberal issues, then it’s good for the city — 30 percent to 17 percent — although 46 percent say it doesn’t make a difference.

“Hey! Let’s have a party! By 3-1, New Yorkers would like to play host to the Democratic National Convention in 2016,” Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Maurice Carroll said. “Being host would boost Mayor Bill de Blasio’s national renown, and many New Yorkers like the idea that their mayor is turning into a national spokesman for liberalism. Good for the city, good for him, they say.”
