Suzuki's globally popular variant Swift Sport, last seen at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, is likely to make its way into the domestic market. Though these speculations have been doing the rounds for quite some time now, it seems this time the Japanese manufacturer would look to pop in a surprise by bringing in the performance-oriented version of the highly popular hatchback. Most car enthusiasts have been craving for this car for quite some time now.

Despite having completed almost a decade since its launch, Maruti Suzuki Swift is still among the top ten selling cars in India, month after month. With respect to the Swift Sport, Maruti has not made any statement about its launch. However, from the buyer's perspective, it would certainly make sense to bring this car to India since Volkswagen already has the high powered Polo GT TSI here. In addition, Fiat India is also planning to bring in its Abarth 500, a high powered hatch, by the end of this year.

Across international markets, the Swift Sport is available in two body styles, three-door and five-door, though India is most likely to get the five-door version. At the 2014 February Auto Expo in Delhi, we witnessed a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder engine with 99bhp of top power and 160Nm of peak torque inder the hood of this car. Maruti claimed that the vehicle accelerates from 0-100 kmph from in 8.7 seconds and clocks a top-speed of 193 kmph.
