Transfer news: Luciano Becchio loaned by Norwich to Rotherham

Rotherham completed an impressive transfer deadline day by signing Norwich striker Luciano Becchio on loan.

The Argentinian striker, who has been frozen out at Carrow Road after joining in January 2013, became the second signing of the day after the Millers broke their club-record transfer fee to bring in Oldham frontman Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Boss Steve Evans said: "I will wake up tomorrow morning and still ask myself just how we have beaten the deadline to secure this player to be a Miller.

"This is a lad who at Championship level has a CV that says simply 'I score goals'.

"Luciano is a talented lad who will again complement the playing squad we have assembled at New York Stadium. We must take this opportunity to thank our Chairman Tony Stewart and Vice-Chairman Richard Stewart for their support."

Becchio, 30, made his name in English football at Leeds, where he scored 86 goals in 231 games.

Meanwhile midfielder Michael Tidser has joined Oldham on loan until January.

"I spoke with Tids after training and he indicated that he would like to take up the opportunity to move to Oldham Athletic, which in turn allows the lad to get the competitive first-team action he desperately desires," added Evans.

"There is no doubt that he will play a key role for Lee Johnson's side in the next few months and I would expect he will become a firm favourite with the Boundary Park supporters."
