The most awaited sportbike – the KTM RC 390 – may have its top speed electronically limited to around the 178-179 kmph mark.
A new video - reported to be of an official KTM event ahead of the launch on September 9 - has emerged of the speedometer console of the RC390 which clearly shows the bike topping out at around the 179 kmph mark.
In the real world, doing such speeds are neither advisable nor are they legal. However, the supersportbike credentials of the RC390 are likely to have many owners take to the track once in a while to explore the potential of the bike. And if there are any track side discussions on top speeds, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is known to hit top speeds of 191 kmph in stock trim.
The rev counter seems to have some more room for the RC390 to attain more speed, but factory ECU maps will need to be replaced with aftermarket maps which may help riders explore the real potential of the RC390. But for now, it seems KTM has limited the speed.
