RAFIABAD, Sept 1: Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today cautioned Hurriyat leadership of propagation of poll boycott, saying this will definitely help BJP and its allies in the whole State because BJP has succeeded in making inroads in the Kashmir region as well after Parliament elections with the connivance of some so called nationalist elements.
He said that these so called nationalist people have a single motive to gain wealth and power for securing luxury life style for themselves and have no sympathy with the people of J&K. He said it is the duty of the Hurriyat leaders to analyze every negative dimension of poll boycott otherwise people will never forgive them for propagating wrong policies.
While addressing a public meeting at Panzala in Rafiabad, Vakil said that apart from political considerations, poll boycott provides lease of life to corrupt people that too at the cost of honest and dedicated one. He said people who have the experience and intention of looting the State exchequer easily manage to secure their seats.
He said Hurriyat must realize that poll participation prevents exploitation of masses by those who have vested interest in keeping the pot boiling here. He said that those who can play an important role in development and prosperity of the State are being forced to abstain from participation in elections which is an unfortunate event in the history of this State.
Describing youth as real builders of J&K, former Minister said that common people have now pinned hopes on younger generation and now it is their duty to come up to the expectations fully. Vakil urged them to join hands to expose those politicians who exploit every individual particularly youth for petty political gains to grab power.
Besides others, who addressed the gathering include senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Pandit Brij Nath Nehru, Advocate Javed Masoodi and Bashir Ahmad Shiekh.
