Rain cheers farmers, more rain likely in Rajasthan
JAIPUR: Monsoon rain continued to cheer the farmers of the state after its revival for the third consecutive day when moderate to heavy rain was received at many places in the state. Sabla (Dungarpur) received highest rain in the state recording 100 mm.
Attributing the revival of the monsoon to the active northerly winds, Jaipur met office in its forecast said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at several places in eastern Rajasthan.

The city woke up to another cloudy morning which received 7.4 mm rain in the city. The weather was mainly pleasant in the city. "For the past three days, after the revival of monsoon in the state, there is a dip of almost 9 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature. Prior to the revival, maximum temperatures recorded hovered from 38.0 degrees Celsius to 39.9 degrees Celsius. However, on Monday a maximum temperature of 30.9 degrees Celsius was recorded," said an official with the Jaipur Met office. As the humidity in the city was 92% there is a possibility of more rains in the city in the next couple of days.
Sabla (Dungarpur) was followed by Nimbahera (Chittorgarh), where 80 mm of rain was received, Sri Madhopur (Sikar), Bhungra (Alwar), Aaspur (Dungarpur) and Pratapgarh received 70 mm each, Mandawar (Dausa), Shergarh (Jodhpur), Ghatol (Banswara), Dhariabad (Pratapgarh) received 60 mm each, while Badi Sadri (Chittorgarh), Kishengarh (Ajmer) and Sajjangarh (Udaipur) received 40 mm of rain. Rain varying from 30 mm to 10 mm was also received at many places in the eastern and northern Rajasthan.
The revival of the south west monsoon has cheered farmers of the state, who were earlier disturbed with receding monsoon, last fortnight of August. "Post August 15, monsoon vanished from the state except last two days of this month. It appears that if this spell continues for another weak it will certainly be a beneficial for vegetables and other crops," said an official from the irrigation department.
In its forecast, the Jaipur Met office said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at many places in the eastern Rajasthan. Mild rain will occur at many places in the northern parts of the state.
