Major blow to TDP?
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi's 'Operation Akarsh' appears to be paying off handsome dividends for the party. While two MLAs and three MLCs joined the party on Monday, another city MLA, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, met chief minister and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on the same day.
Wyra MLA (YSRCP) Madanlal, Yellandu MLA (Congress) Koram Kanakaiah from Khammam district and MLCs Venkateshwarlu, Rajeshwar Rao and Yadava Reddy joined the party at TRS Bhavan.
TDP senior leader from Khammam, Tummala Nageshwara Rao, who resigned from the party a couple days ago, is scheduled to join TRS on September 5.
Meanwhile, Greater Hyderabad TDP president and Sanathnagar MLA, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, met the chief minister at his camp office along with the residents of IDH colony near Padamarao Nagar. Though the MLA's associates claim the meeting was related to IDH colony issues, TRS party sources said the TDP leader may announce his jump to TRS soon. The TDP leader may even be inducted into the cabinet at an appropriate time if he joins the ruling party.
During the Mahankali festival, Srinivas Yadav had invited KCR to his house in Secunderabad and it was at this meeting that the MLA had reportedly first hinted at wanting to join TRS. Sources in TRS said Yadav's son Sai Kiran Yadav is likely to emerge as the mayoral candidate if the TRS does well in the Greater Hyderabad municipal elections.
The TRS has been eyeing the nine TDP MLAs in the Greater Hyderabad area for some time as it seeks to emerge as a powerful force in city politics. The TRS is aiming to win the election to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which is due this December. Previously, some of the TDP MLAs were wooed by excise minister and Secunderabad MLA T Padma Rao, who is also in-charge of party affairs in Greater Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the chief minister visited IDH colony on Monday evening and announced that apart from providing civic amenities, houses would be constructed for the residents within five months.
