HYDERABAD: Refusing to stall the ongoing Eamcet counselling process, Justice A Raja Sekhar Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday rejected the request made by several engineering colleges to allow supplementary counseling in their colleges.
The Judge was dealing with a batch of writ petitions filed by colleges whose affiliation was withdrawn by JNTU. Earlier, the colleges approached the high court which laid a precondition that possession of qualified faculty a must for allowing admissions in these colleges.
The colleges contended that though they complied with the court's orders, the state government and university were blocking admissions. They sought a direction from the HC to quash the ongoing counselling and order a supplementary counselling. The judge dismissed their pleas.
'JNTU can cancel affiliations'
A division bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Justices R Subash Reddy and A Sankaranarayana made it clear that JNTU can conduct appropriate inspections and take all necessary steps including cancellation of affiliation etc, if the conditions prescribed by AICTE are not met by these colleges.
"If you are not satisfied with the infrastructure, you can cancel the affiliation of such colleges. Reducing the seats is an exclusive domain of the AICTE and JNTU cannot do that", the bench said
