Shimla: The rainfall deficit in Himachal Pradesh during the first three months of monsoon from June 1 to September 1 remained at 37 per cent even as the region received widespread rains in the past 24 hours.
The state received 443.2 mm of rains, against the normal rainfall of 707.5 mm, registering a shortfall of 37 per cent, Director of the local MeT office Manmohan Singh said.
Una, Mandi, Shimla and Hamirpur, received?one per cent, three percent, seven per cent and 14 per cent less rains respectively, which is considered normal, he said.
The remaining eight districts had deficient rains ranging from 21 per cent to 86 per cent, Singh said.
The tribal districts of Keylong and Kalpa received 86 per cent and 81 per cent deficient rains, respectively, followed by Chamba (-71 per cent), Sirmaur (-35 per cent), Kangra(-30 per cent), Bilaspur(-24 per cent)and Solan and Kullu(-21 per cent) each, he said.
Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, Dharamshala was the wettest in the region with 60 mm rains while Baldwara and Nahan received 55 mm and 50 mm rains, respectively, MeT office said.
Kangra got 45 mm, Sundernagar 44 mm, Gohar 43 mm, Una 42 mm, Kasauli 41 mm, Kumarsain 39 mm, Solan 37 mm, Amb 35 mm and Dharampur 30 mm.
Following the rains, the mercury today dropped by two to four degrees, MeT said.
Una recorded a maximum of 31.2 degree Celsius, followed by Nahan and Solan at 27.5 degrees, Bhunter 27 degrees, Dharmshala and Sundernagar 26.6 degrees each, Shimla 24.2 degrees and Kalpa 19.8 degrees.
The minimum temperature also dropped by few notches and Una recorded a low of 18.7 degree Celsius, against 22.3 degree yesterday. Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a low of 18.5 degrees, followed by Solan at 18, Dharamsala 16.4 degrees, Shimla 15.3 degrees, Kalpa 12.2 degrees, Manali 21. 0 degrees and Keylong 8.9 degree C.
The MeT office has predicted heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places during the next 48 hours and light to heavy rains over next four days.
