Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will relive their Canadian Masters battle when they once again lock horns in the fourth round of US Open on Monday.

Murray took four sets to dispatch world no. 96 Andrey Kuznetsov 6-1, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to set up his fourth round meeting with Tsonga. The Scot is clearly not in the greatest of form as he gave away five double faults out which three were at break points, which the opponent took advantage to clinch the third set.

"I expected him to play well. He obviously would have been confident from his last match," said Murray after surviving another difficult encounter. "The first couple sets were pretty good.

"And then I started a bit slow in the beginning of the third. He gained confidence from that and he definitely started hitting the ball better in the third set. It was a tricky match. But I came through well."

Tsonga had it easy in the third round, sealing a straight set victory over Pablo Carreno Busta. He stormed past him 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 54 minutes.

"I did a good performance today. Happy to go through, of course. Now I have another opponent. It's going to be the possibility for me to play a good match again," said the Frenchman.

Tsonga defeated Murray in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Masters last month 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4. However, Murray still has a vastly superior head-to-head record at 9-2.

On being asked about the upcoming match against Tsonga, Muray, a former US Open champion, anticipated a tough fight.

"It will be a tough match. We played each other a lot of times. He's obviously playing well right now. He had a great week in Canada. Yeah, he's played some good tennis so far here. Obviously it will be a tough match," Murray said.

"I've had a lot of close matches with him. But I've won a lot against him, as well. So, yeah, I mean, I would say it matches up well. But he's obviously playing extremely well just now. And, yeah, I'm aware it's going to be a very tricky match."
