Sandalwood’s remake of the Telugu film
Kick,
Super Ranga, has a song that boasts many firsts for the
Kannada film industry. For one, the catchy number — called Dance Raja Dance that has been sung by
Upendra himself — was shot in Slovenia, a first for a Kannada film. The other defining feature of the track, says Upendra, was the way it was shot. “This song will have me romance the heroine,
Kriti Kharbanda, in 12 avatars.
We’ve used a technique called rotography in which multiple characters played by the same actor increase in number onscreen. From one screen image of me, you get to see four, and this increases to 12 by the end of the song. The use of this kind of computer graphics is a first for any film of mine,” says Upendra.
