MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba has urged party members to propel unity if the former ruling party is to form government.

Dr Mumba said unity in any organization was important because it was building the strong foundation.

He said at Mkaika in Katete on Saturday that the party members must not embroiled themselves into squabbles but to promote unity of purpose.

He also said the former ruling party would put in its best in order to reclaim their former parliament seats in the September 11th by-elections.

Dr Mumba said the people of all provinces were still appreciating the role which MMD played when it was in power.

He said the MMD party played a big role agriculture in the country saying it was sign that the party was still formidable in areas where parliamentary by-elections were taking place.

“The MMD is still strong in the country more especially in areas where parliamentary by-elections are taking place and we shall put the best to reclaim our parliamentary seats,” he said.

Dr Mumba said disfranchising the people in creating the parliamentary by-elections were not necessary.

He said MMD was ready to fight the seats and get them back in the parliamentary by- elections.

“We managed to get our seats in Chipata Central and Mkaika and now we are getting the seats Kasenengwa and Vubwi after the polls,”he said.

Dr Mumba also advised his fellow political leaders to always break political barriers during traditional ceremonies such as Kulamba of the Chewa people.

Campaigns for parliamentary by-elections are taking place in Solwezi Central,Zambezi West,Mkushi South,Vubwi and Kasenengwa.

  1. That is a focused campaigner. Though he knows his chances are slim, he is talking about what he brings to the table, not rubbishing others whom people are seeing to work. Nevers is growing up. But aka kambi is like a headstrong bear. Takacinja even though he knows that his message continues to lose him popularity. Kaya!!!

    • @Skeleton-Pliz be truthful. After the loss of MMD in 2011,MMD would have just remained with MPs waiting for their gratuities. The coming of Dr Mumba as MMD President has held the Party this far,and pipo can even talk about it.Not these Kaingu Team were speaking. They were scared. So leave Dr Mumba alone. The faithful and genuine MMD members will rally behind Dr Mumba’s Leadership.

  3. Mei Mutungu, its a good thing you are not God. With the end of Kabimba whose chief assignment was to dismantle MMD and stop Nevers Mumba, the dynamics have changed completely.

MMD is strong. If it was another, after Andeleki, Kachingwe, Namugala, Dora, Kaingu they would been long gone today.

Now that the person who wanted MMD to die, has instead ‘died’, let the MMD MPs arise and unite. Don’t kuntina now. MMD can form Government. The memories of the good economic policies and good governance are still fresh in our minds. It was ka Fred who tried unsuccessfully to paint everything MMD black. I hope Hon Chikwanda has put a mechanisim in place to ensure the K14 billion is paid ‘yesterday.’

    • Ngamana-UNIP’s path is very different from MMD.UNIP never changed Leadership for 27 yrs.MMD has changed 4 times within 20 yrs.UNIP boycotted 1996 General Elections,MMD has not boycotted any General Elections.KK got UNIP Presidency from the Elected Musokotwane(No Democracy in UNIP).All these factors have affected UNIP to date. But honestly,UNIP has more existing grassroot structures after MMD compared with UPND.UNIP for now just lacks insipirational Leadership.UNIP is more of a National Party after MMD than the Regional Party UPND.

  4. That is the way to go. mmd has survived many attacks and still standing cause of strong its strong democratic foundations. The beuty about democracy is the allowance of competition let all parties tell the would be electorate what they have done or intend to do. Mmd still stands a chance to recover and regain. You have our support.
