Panchkula lawyer, two others booked for fraudulent land deal
Tribune News Service

Dera Bassi, August 31
Three persons, including a Panchkula-based advocate, have been booked for a fraudulent sale of a piece of land jointly owned by two residents of Chandigarh. As per the details available, Davinder Singh, the father of a judge in Chandigarh, and his brother Mohan Singh owned over six acres on the Gulabgarh road in Dera Bassi.

Certain persons, however, fraudulently sold nearly two and a half acres to Aman Kapoor, an advocate in Panchkula.

The fraud came to light when Davinder Singh lodged a complaint in the Dera Bassi police station that someone allegedly sold his land to Aman Kapoor by preparing bogus documents. In his complaint, Davinder Singh claimed to have come to know about the deal from a property dealer in Dera Bassi. He added that as per the sale agreement, Aman Kapoor paid Rs 60 lakh to two persons named Davinder Singh and Mohan Singh.

The agreement is ‘fake’ as it does not carry their signatures, Davinder claimed.

The fake document has signatures of two witnesses, JS Randhawa, a resident of Sector 71, Mohali, and a person named Sidhu, a resident of Patiala, the complainant said.

A case under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against Aman Kapoor, JS Randhawa, Sidhu and some unidentified persons involved in the crime at the Dera Bassi police station.

Dera Bassi SHO Gurjit Singh said they have started investigation in the case and the accused would be arrested soon.

Authorities fail to check underage driving
Tribune News Service

Dera Bassi, August 31
Even after 12 days a minor crushed a school student to death under his car in Khatik Mohalla, the local administration seems to have not woken up from its slumber. Giving traffic rules a go-by, minors are driving four-wheelers and riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets. They do not possess required documents of vehicles.

Though the local administration claims to have tightened noose around traffic rule violators, the reality is different.

In a tragic accident, Gaurav, son of a shopkeeper, while on his way to school, was crushed to death under a speeding Alto car driven by a minor boy recently. The vehicle was driven by Himanshu, a resident of Shakti Nagar. The car collided head-on with the bicycle leaving the cyclist critically injured. Later, he succumbed to his injuries.

Students could be seen driving four-wheelers and riding two-wheelers in the presence of traffic police personnel here.

Sanjiv Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), claimed to have asked the police officials to enforce traffic rules in the sub-division to curb such incidents.

He said meetings with the heads of different educational institutions and parents would be organised soon to help aware minor children of traffic rules.
