Section of leaders alleged a case of payment seat in the Kottayam Parliament constituency

Thruvananthapuram: The first day of the State BJP committee meeting witnessed stormy scenes when a section of the leaders alleged that there had been a case of payment seat in the Kottayam Parliament constituency where Noble Mathew was in the fray. They alleged that the Kottayam district committee had been put in the dark about his candidature. Another strong allegation against the State BJP leadership was that there was an attempt to defeat senior BJP leader O.Rajagopal in the Thiruvananthapuram Parliament constituency.
For quite some time BJP leaders had been alleging that state party chief V. Muraleedharan had delayed releasing the funds for Rajagopal’s election expenses and had instead channelized them in favour of his Man Friday and BJP general secretary K. Surendran, who had contested from Kasaragode constituency.Regarding the implementation of the Gadgil committee report, the state leadership had failed miserably when it should have been brought to the notice of the Central Government. It was quite clear that the warring faction led by former national secretary P. K. Krishnadas would take cudgels against V. Muraleedharan.
It was ironic that leaders expressed their displeasure against the state leadership just hours before party president Amit Shah was expected to land in Thiruvananthapuram. Amit Shah will be put up at Thycaud Government Guest House. On Monday, he will address the concluding session of the state committee meeting at 10:30 am at Samskrithy Hall, Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram. He is also slated to visit Sree Padmanabha Swami temple at 8:30 pm.
Taking up another issue, Muraleedharan said it was unfortunate that former Governor Sheila Dikshit had signed the orders appointing Dr Babu Sebastian as Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University. “We will initiate legal steps against the new VC as he does not have the requisite qualifications prescribed by the UGC,” said Muraleedharan.
Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports stating that the warring leader P. K. Krishnadas is unlikely to go to the airport to receive BJP national president Amit Shah when is scheduled to arrive late tonight. In the State committee meeting he alleged that State BJP chief Muraleedharan has not been informing many of the programs to other party members.
