Rasulan Bibi to attend 7 Infantry Brigade platinum jubilee function

The oldest brigade of Army, 7 Infantry Brigade will celebrate its platinum jubilee on September 1. The celebrations will be attended by Rasulan Bibi, widow of Late Company Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hamid, Param Vir Chakra (posthumous), who made supreme sacrifice in the battle of Khem Karan, where the brigade played a stellar role in thwarting an offensive in the western sector during 1965 Indo-Pak war.

The oldest brigade of Army, 7 Infantry Brigade will celebrate its platinum jubilee on September 1. Lt Col Vipul Harsh of 7 Infantry Brigade informed that on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the brigade, a flag hoisting and wreath laying ceremony will be held on Monday morning. It will be followed by Sainik Sammelan.
The chief guest would be Major General Taranjeet Singh, GOC, Red Eagle Division. Major General RS Malave, GOC, MUPFSA will attend the programme on behalf of Army Commander. Seven ex-commanders, eminent citizens, police and administrative officials will also attend the function.
Talking about the history of the brigade, Lt Col Harsh said that since its raising at Pune on September 1 in 1939, the brigade has seen action in all major operations undertaken by the Army, spanning from Second World War, Abdul Hamid's heroic action in 1965 and the spectacular victory in 1971. Post 1971 also, the brigade has seen action in a number of operations, including Operation Pawan, Operation Rakshak and others.
