Paris Saint-Germain took the lead over Saint-Étienne Sunday when the reigning French champions least expected it thanks to an inexplicable error by Saint-Étienne goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier. PSG’s attack seemed to have fizzled out when a Saint-Étienne played a backpass to Ruffier for a routine clerance, but Ruffier’s first touch betrayed him, and the ball rolled over the goal line.

Zlatan Ibrahimović came over and grabbed Ruffier’s hand to comfort him after the goal. Ibrahimović added a second for PSG just before halftime.
