Niralee’s scores hat-trick in Baroda High School win
AHEMDABAD: Last year's golden boot winner Niralee Bhatt added three more goals to her tally of 12 goals she scored last year as defending champion Baroda High School started their campaign in the girls section of the Times of India T20 School Soccer in style defeating Rachana School Shahibaugh 4-0 in a match played mainly on the Rachana School half. Interestingly Baroda defeated the same opponent by the same margin last year where Niralee scored all the four goals.
But this time right winger Anjali Agrawal too managed to get her name on the scoresheet.
Niralee made her intentions clear from the start attempting a long ranger that sailed over the cross bar in the 3rd minute. In the next 10 minutes she had four shots at goal of which one went wide and two were saved by the goalkeeper. But it didn't take long for Niralee to find the net when she sneaked past a defender and tapped in a corner from Anjalee in the 18th minute to give Baroda High School the lead.
The scenario didn't change much after the break either and Niralee again scored in the 27th minute with a solo run down the middle. Three minutes later Anjalee joined the party sending in a swirling left-footer from near the centre line to make it 3-0 for Baroda. It was Niralee again who found the target in the last minute of the game this time her measured corner swung late to beat the Rachana goalkeeper Saloni Sonara all ends up.
Niralee Bhatt of Baroda High School, who was declared the player of the match said: “We were a little shaky at the start but that's what happens when you are playing the first match of the tournament. But we are happy with the outcome. It is too early in the tournament to say how far we will go but we will try our best to repeat last year's feat.”
