AHMEDABAD: In times where everyone seems to be not only following but also promoting only cricket (for various reasons), here is a school in Ahmedabad which has a consistent record of doing well in football.
A proof of this was witnessed in the recently concluded under-12 inter-district football meet where the youngsters from Anand Niketan School, Shilaj showed their class as they won Olive Soccer Cup football tournament when they beat Kahaani 'A' team in a closely contested encounter.

Anand Niketan players hit the right note from the very start of the tournament as they brushed aside Vadodara's Navrachna School 3-0 in their first match with Heet Mehta scoring a brace and Subhang Khemani adding another for the winners.
Continuing with their form, the boys then blanked Rising Sun Club 3-0. They then edged out Kahaani ‘B’ 2-1 with goals from Tanmay Patel and Kashish Parikh.
And in the summit clash, the duo of Tanmay and Kashish were again on the list of scorers as their goals helped them beat Kahaani ‘A' 2-1 to help their team lift trophy.
On Saturday, Anand Niketan’s under-16 football team lost to DPS School in the final of the Rev Bro Bou U-16 Sub-Junior Football Tournament.
