KOCHI: Bhoomigeetham, a musical event to help raise funds for the landless in the state, will be held at Marine Drive on Sunday.
District collector M G Rajamanickam said the programme have been completed and it will be held at 6.30pm. The three-hour long event, coordinated by movie director Siddique, will feature 30 songs on a 4,500-sq ft stage.
A 700 sq ft LED wall will display picturesque visuals that would serve as background for each song.
Before the event, a documentary will be screened detailing its objective.
Musicians M Jayachandran, Deepak Dev, Bijibal and Gopi Sunder have composed music for the programme. The one lakh-sq ft pavilion at Marine Drive will be biggest one erected in Kochi so far and can accommodate up to 20,000 people.
The first-of-its-kind musical event in the country is being held to raise funds for acquiring land ? three cents each ? for the 1.5 lakh landless population in the state. Singers Sithara, Rajalakshmi, Afsal, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Najeem Arshad among others will give voice to the compositions of musicians. Noted Carnatic musician and playback singer Haricharan will also participate in the event. In preparation for the event, the artists completed a week-long rehearsal at the Children's Park.
Chief minister Oommen Chandy had launched a brochure of the programme last month.
The event is held in association with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), Film Employees Federation of Kerala (Fefka) and the Kerala Film Chamber. Tickets to the event will be available from morning and entry to the pavilion will be allowed from 4pm.
