Div Com for early stocking of essentials

SRINAGAR, Aug 30: To ensure availability of stocks of essentials including Rice, Atta, Sugar and LPG in remote and far flung areas of the division especially in Leh, Kargil, Karnah, Keran, Machil and Gurez during winter season, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal  convened a meeting of divisional level officers here today.
Among others, Director CA&PD, Chief Engineers of R&B and PDD, Managing Director, State Forest Corporation, Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, besides officers of State Road Transport Corporation, representatives of Oil Companies attended the meeting.
He directed the officers of SRTC to ensure availability of adequate transport facilities for stocking of essentials in the far flung areas to facilitate the people.
Mr. Kansal also enjoined upon the officers of CA&PD and representatives of oil companies to provide LPG connections in the areas like Keran, Machil, Karnah and Gurez to facilitate the people and curb the felling of forest trees in these areas. He also directed officers of J&K Forest Corporation to stock timber and firewood in adequate quantities in Ladakh region besides stocking of cement to address the requirements of the people living in the area.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner also conducted video conference with the Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil to take stock of the availability of essentials in these districts.
The meeting was informed that 22190 quintals of Rice, one lakh quintals of Atta, 4760 quintals of Sugar besides 2450 kiloliters of K-Oil and 1.20 lakhs LPG cylinders are available at Leh district while 101783 quintals of Rice, 26592 quintals of Atta, 6370 quintals of Sugar, 70000 LPG cylinders besides 2450 kiloliters of K-Oil are available in Kargil district for the utilization of the consumers.
The meeting was also informed that 64386 quintals of Rice, 28498 quintals of Atta and 4904 quintals of Sugar shall be made available in the remote areas of the Kupwara district while 23708 quintals of Rice, 16070 quintals of Atta and 2001 quintals of Sugar shall be made available in the far flung areas of Bandipora district including Gurez.
