SAMBA, Aug 30: Rich tributes were paid to Sepoy of 8 JAK Rifle Ami Chand on his 49th death anniversary at village Pakhari.  Ami Chand laid down his life while fighting with the enemies during the Indo-Pak war in 1965.
On this occasion, hundreds of people from all walks of life paid floral tributes to the martyr and remembered his valourship.
A religious congregation was also organized under the supervision of religious Guru Swami Jagdeep Giri who apprised the gathering with some religious ethos pertaining to the philosophy of God.
He along with Puro Devi, wife of Ami Chand, Naik Subedar of 4 Gadwal Regiment and other relatives paid floral tributes to the statue of the martyr Ami Chand.
“Martyrs are the glory of a nation and it is our duty that we should remember them with full respect and celebrate their birth and death anniversaries in order to teach the next generation the lesson of respect for the fore fathers which is a part our culture and civilizations since ancient times prevalent there in the Indian History, said Swami Jagdeep Giri Maharaj.
Among others present were sarpanch Puran Sharma, sapanch Prempal Choudhary, officers of the 4 Gadwal regiment and locals.
