Book on history of Kargil released

KARGIL, Aug 30: “A Travel in the History of Purig”, a book disclosing the history of Kargil was released today by former MP from Ladakh, Haji Ghulam Hassan Khan.
The book written by an internationally renowed author and Tibetologist, Dr Dieter Schuh, Director, International Institute of Buddhist and Tibetan Studies, Andiast Switzerland and Ajaz Hussain Munshi (Curator, Munshi Aziz Bhat Musuem on Central Asia Trade, Kargil), was released during a grand function at Munshi Habibullah Mission School Kargil, organized by Kargil Social and Cultural Organization (KASCO).
During the function speakers appreciated the extensive research and efforts made by Dr Schuh and Ajaz Munshi for writing the book.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Schuh said that he is the first person to videograph Kargil in 1980 and has again become the first person to write the history of Kargil. He revealed that he will soon come with a book on the original legal documents of Karchey Khar, which will become a great source for researchers.
Haji Hassan Khan while speaking, appreciated the work of both the writers, particularly Dr Schuh’s and termed him as a new hope for the lost history of Kargil (Purig). He expressed confidence that more researchers would come forward and start writing about the various aspects of life in Purik.
Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Former CEC and Leader of Opposition LAHDC Kargil, Councilor Tai Suru Aga Syed Abass, Ex Executive Councilor, Syed Kazim Sabere, Gulzar Hussain Minshi, Director KASCO, scholars and prominent citizens of Kargil were also present.
