A Renault Captur. It’s my first diesel and I will never go back to petrol. It is so much more fuel efficient. if I’m just driving around Dublin I get a full week out of a tank — and I do a lot of driving. More money for me.
I have always loved cars, probably because I love driving, from way before my days at AA Roadwatch and presenting shows like Drive and RPM Motorsport. It is important to me what i drive. The Renault Captur is a lovely car to drive — but for me a car has to look good too and the Captur is a really stylish car inside and out. My favourite is the two tone Arizona Orange and cream top. Very stylish.
An engine that always works (phew, because I don’t fancy getting my hands dirty)
Without kids and on long journeys alone I have been put her to the test.
A Peugeot 106
A BMW X5, An Alpha Spider, A Fiat 500.
A convertible, roof down, sun shining through the Rioja region of Spain — wine tasting along the way, but having someone to drive me home of course.
I was a passenger over ten years ago in a Porsche with the late legend Paul Newman. I was supposed to interview him on the drive but I was so star struck and a bit scared — he was doing 160 mph — that I only got one question out.
Id love to have a captive audience with Gay Byrne, Oprah Winfrey, Bono. I’ll do the driving AND ask the questions.
A skunk.
I love my music when driving and the Renault Captur audio is brilliant for long journeys. I can play the music on my iPhone through the Bluetooth and on my list are Beck, Jungle, Pharrell Williams, Lake Street Dive, The Carnival Brothers, Mundy, Little Green Cars, The Hot Sprockets, U2.
