KANPUR: A four-year-old boy suffered serious burns after falling into a boiling cauldron of wheat porridge in Auraiya district.
The incident occurred on Friday morning and the condition of little Ansh Kumar is said to be serious. Ansh son of Arvind Kumar is a resident of Chitkapur village in Ajitmal area of district.The child fell into the cauldron while playing in the Aanganbadi centre premises.
Aanganbadi workers Shivkanti and Madhuri were preparing wheat porridge under the mid-day meal scheme on Friday morning. "As soon as the two left the place, Ansh along with other boys arrived there. Later, he slipped and fell into the boiling cauldron of wheat porridge," said village sources.
The commuity health centre in Ajitmal where he was taken referred him to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Etawah where he is undergoing treatment in the burns ward since Friday evening.
According to doctors treating him at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, the child had suffered 50 per cent burns. "We will keep him under observation for at least 10 days. He is in a serious condition and it is too early to say anything."
"When we got his case, he had very serious burns in most of parts of the body except head. Later, we referred him to RIMS Etawah where he is admitted in burns ward and the treatment is currently underway," said Dr PV Singh of CHC Ajitmal.
Ansh's father said: "It's the negligence on the part of Aanganbadi authorities and the two cook — they shouldn't have allowed Ansh near the kitchen."
Child development project officer (CDPO) Ajitmal Suman Nigam spoke to the family members at the RIMS and assured them the boy would be given the best possible treatment.
