A fierce gun battle with some militants on Saturday morning, killed one Indian Army soldier, while injuring another one, at the Kupwara district, in Jammu & Kashmir.

The latest reports suggest that the battle between the Indian Army and some local militants is ongoing, with four or five militants holding on to the area.

"In an ongoing operation at Baron Gali, Kalaroos, contact with infiltrators was re-established during the night and in the exchange of fire one jawan was killed and another was injured," an Indian Army spokesperson was quoted saying, by Zee News.

The firings have been intermittently going on for the past 20 days, along the Line of Control (LoC). It is being alleged that the Pakistani army has made many ceasefire violations during this period.

Till now, three Indian Army soldiers, and six guerrilla militants have been killed in the cross firings over the last 20 days.

The local police believe that a big group of heavily armed guerrilla militants have crossed over to the Indian side of the border, which has prompted the Indian defence to kick start a large operation against these militants.

On Friday, Narendra Modi criticised the Pakistani government firing at the Indian secessionists on the LoC.

Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, an alert has been issued by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), that belongs to the Rajasthan police.

According to the ATS, a terrorist group is trying to cross the border from Pakistan, and into the Indian side and around 15 militants are trying to infiltrate the Indian side from the Pakistani side, according to the alert.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has also been on high alert, intensifying their watch over the three Rajasthani cities of Bikaner, Jodhpur and Barmer.

Usually, the militant infiltration takes place through the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir. However, after the Indian defence forces increased their vigilance in the state, especially near the borders, the militants seemed to have been trying to find a new route into the country.

Right now, Rajasthan seems to be their new gateway into India.

Recently, the BSF had spotted a few heavily armed terrorists, near the Indian border, on three confirmed occasions.
