Kanpur Municipal corporation (KMC) would install the statue of martyr
Alok Sahu at Kidwai nagar crossing and rename the road after him. Alok Sahu was a navy officer who died in Sindhurakshak submarine blast last year.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had visited the house of Alok Sahu on June 5 and presented two cheques of Rs 15 lakh each to his wife and parents. During the meeting with the chief minister, Alok’s father handed over to Akhilesh Yadav a
resolution passed by the Sewa Samiti,Babupurwa in which the it has demanded installation of the statue Alok Sahu at Kidwai nagar crossing and renaming a road leading to his house after him.
The chief minister had accepted both the demands of the samiti. According to Devendra Kumar, executive engineer the
municipal commissioner had sent the resolution to KMC board for its approval. Once the board approves the the proposals the work of installation of statue would begin, he informed.
