Aon Widens Coverage Options, Increases Elective Benefits

Aon plc’s (AON) global talent, retirement and health solutions unit, Aon Hewitt has declared the inclusion of a wide range of benefits in the coverage options under the Aon Active Health Exchange for 2015. The move marks the company’s effort to fulfill the increasing demand by organizations to provide additional benefits to employees.

Employers are now keen to offer benefits that would not only be limited to medical and dental but would also support overall employee benefits.

The Aon Active Health Exchange will facilitate the employer to offer customized benefits as per the requirement of the individual employee. During the annual enrollment season, employers will have the opportunity to offer their staff a wide range of elective benefits as covered under the Aon Active Health Exchange, which will be effective for insurance made from Jan 1, 2015. These benefits include critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, life, long-term disability, identity theft, legal, home/auto and pet Insurance.

These benefits will be provided in a setup similar to the retail shopping environment, where employees get an option of comparing the various benefits offered. This will allow them to choose the most suitable option for themselves as well as their families. Thus, the initiative will cater to the employees’ overall well being.

As the largest private health exchange, Aon has a competitive edge of leveraging the consumer’s buying power. Moreover, the company’s broad market presence helps it to offer more competitive rates in comparison to the rates an employer can get individually or through non-listed insurance companies. With a widening of the coverage options, Aon will be able to fulfill the demand of more employers, thereby paving the way for more memberships and in turn more revenues.

Currently, Aon has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
