VADODARA: The city police arrested Jitendra Gaekwad on charges of bootlegging from Navapura on Thursday. The cops have seized country-made and Indian Made Foreign Liquor of various brands and a car used for ferrying the liquor The total seizure amounted to Rs 2.58 lakh. In order to maintain law and order ahead of Ganesh Utsav and Lok Sabha polls, a special team has been deployed to keep an eye on bootleggers across the city.
The team headed by Pradeepsinh Jadeja carried the operation after they received ?a tip-off from the prohibition squad.
The cops got information that a car carrying country made and IMFL was parked in the basement of Bansidhar complex near Polo Ground. Gaekwad was arrested from the basement of Bansidhar complex near Navapura. When interrogated, the accused revealed the identity of the buyer, Nilesh Kahaar, who too is a bootlegger from Navapura. Gaekwad purchased the liquor for Kahaar from Dhananjay Patel, another bootlegger who is a resident of Bharuch. The police have lodged a complaint against the three men at the Navapura police station.
