Former Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack is joining rival show Strictly Come Dancing.

Flack, best known for appearing on The X Factor spin-off show, is the 12th star confirmed for the BBC series.

She said: "Ever since I was a presenter on CBBC and saw the Strictly judges walking around Television Centre, I have wanted to be on the show.

"I am so excited to get started and I just want to get through the first dance with no mistakes."

She joins other celebrities including Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, Andy Murray's mother Judy, Towie star Mark Wright and Pixie Lott in this year's show.

Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills is also appearing along with Alison Hammond, Thom Evans, Simon Webbe, Sunetra Sarker, Jake Wood and Steve Backshall.

Flack later tweeted: "Gahhhhhhh! I'm taking part in this years Strictly ...I haven't been this nervous since I entered the Norfolk Disco Dance championship 1992."

The final three celebrity contestants will be confirmed live on The One Show on Friday.

The new series will be the first one without host Sir Bruce Forsyth, with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman sharing the presenting job.

Strictly Come Dancing will premiere on BBC One next Sunday at 20:00 BST, the same time as The X Factor is broadcast on ITV1.
