GUWAHATI: Signaling the arrival of 'Acche Din' in the aviation sector and praising Prime minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, one of the pioneers of low cost airlines Captain G R Gopinath announced that he will launch new airlines.
Gopinath who was in Guwahati on Wednesday said he is working for bringing new airlines. Sources in Deccan Charters Private Limited confirmed that it will be a low cost airline service and is expected to start operations by this year.

Gopinath, who quit the Aam Admi Party, was in full praise for PM Modi.

"Modi has his own philosophy. You need policy to take growth to hinterland and infrastructure is the key in areas like Northeast India and Jammu and Kashmir."

He added that at times Modi’s philosophy is independent of BJP. "It is Modi who has come to power. Modi wants competition and anybody who wants to do business is allowed to do so. In previous government a type of license Raj was created.”

He argued that it was stated during the earlier regime fresh license will not be given for airlines were incurring losses. "It is alleged that Airlines Companies bribed in order to perpetuate the license Raj. However this Raj is broken now with arrival of Modi government," Gopinath said.

Gopinath added that Modi government is giving special focus on Northeast India. And taking new initiatives. "Several airports in Northeast India lack night landing facilities and there is need to have the same."

Gopinath’s carrier Deccan Charters Private Limited has partner with a local entrepreneur of Northeast India, Luan Airways for operating dedicated air ambulance service. Deccan will provide the logistics including the aircraft while Luan will carry out the day to day operations.

The aircraft will be based in Guwahati. Gopinath said the break even for the ambulance service will be achieved in six moths’ time. "For break even it requires around 50 hours of flying in a month."
