Firearms, cartridges found abandoned at ST depot

VADODARA: Police recovered three firearms including a country-made pistol from the state transport (ST) depot on Thursday evening. The cops got information that a bag was lying abandoned at the entrance of the depot following which they rushed to the spot. The bag had two revolvers, country-made pistol and 17 live cartridges. The police said that it may have been abandoned by the person who came to city for selling them.
"The accused may have abandoned the bag as security and checking was tight at the ST depot. We have got CCTV footage of the spot apart from some clues. We will nab the accused soon," said detection of crime branch (DCB) police inspector, Pradeepsinh Jadeja. An offence was registered at Sayajigunj police station and the crime branch has joined investigations. The police said that the firearms may have been brought to the city for creating trouble during the Ganesh festivals.
