Toni Gonzaga admitted she is lagging behind in the marriage department. Hers and boyfriend Paul Soriano’s seven-year relationship is longer than Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s, and Sen. Chiz Escudero and Heart Evangelista’s, who have been together for five years and two years, respectively.

“Kung sino ang nauuna, siya ang nahuhuli, at kung sino ang nahuhuli, siya ang nauuna,” Toni said at the presscon of Acer Philippines, which chose her as brand ambassador.

But she’s not worried about missing her altar date.

“Ibigay na lang natin yan sa lahat ng engaged this year. Darating yon (marriage). Kesa naman nagmamadali at nahilaw.”

Ready anytime

Still, Toni admits kidding Paul about settling down.

“Sabi ko sa kanya, patapusin muna ang ‘Starting Over Again (her movie with Piolo Pascual which became a box-office hit last February)’ please. Inaasar ko lang siya.”

Should Paul pop the question, though, Toni is ready, anytime. She will also gladly tie the knot next year or the year after that, should her boyfriend so decide.

Ice bucket challenge

Meantime, Toni has three words to say to showbiz couple Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo, who nominated her to the highly-popular ice bucket challenge: bring it on!

The Kapamilya actress-host will not only gladly get doused with a bucket of ice-cold water to help raise awareness and fund research for victims of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). She will also invite her sister Alex Gonzaga do the ice bucket challenge with her.

“Kahit walang magnominate kay Alex, pwede ko siyang basain and we will donate,” Toni said.

Toni added, however, that  Paul cannot take the challenge after Bea and Zanjoe nominated him because he is shooting a movie out of town.

Toni has her hands full. She just released her album, “Celestine,” and is excited for her concert at the Mall of Asia on Friday, October 3.

“I’m happy with the ticket sales. Thankful ako na maraming nag-reserve ng tickets. I’m also excited to work with Paolo (Valenciano, Gary Valenciano’s son, who will direct the concert). He has new, interesting ideas.”

No job burnout

Loaded as she is with work, Toni has yet to experience job burnout. Her drive to work is boundless.

“Hindi ako napapagod kasi gusto ko ang ginagawa ko. Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na may ganitong pangyayari sa buhay mo. May company na nagtitiwala sa ‘yo. You feel more thankful everyday.”

After 15 years in showbiz, Toni knows what she’s talking about.
