Srabanti to play Ma Durga in Mahishasura Mardini

Srabanti is a happy soul. For one, the actress, who always wanted to visit theTirupati Balaji temple, has finally made it.
“It's something I've dreamt about, but somehow, it wasn't happening. My mother says that there is something called a 'divine call' and ultimately, it happened this time. I went there for two days to offer my prayers along with my family. And trust me, I now feel a strange inner strength and peace," she said, adding that she prayed for “peace and good health for all of us".
Then again, there is the buzz that she will be playing Ma Durga in Mahishasura Mardini, which will be telecast on Mahalaya.
Confirming the news, the pretty actress said, “Yes, I will be playing Ma Durga and this will be my third year as the goddess. Alokananda Roy is choreographing the dance drama. While my Durga Puja starts with listening to Birendra Krishna Bhadra's chandipath on radio, the fact that I get to represent the deity herself gives me a huge high. For me, the modern woman is an embodiment of the creative feminine force. She is shakti, armed with the ability to tide over all crises."
Alokananda Roy, who will be choreographing Mahishasura Mardini after 35 years, said, “I always wanted to choreograph this divine dance drama in the way I've perceived it. And I am happy to do planning it with Srabanti. She is pretty and talented and I'm sure she will do a good job as Ma Durga."
