New Zealand Business Confidence Sinks Again

An index measuring business confidence in New Zealand came in with a score of 24.4 in August, the latest survey from ANZ Bank revealed on Friday.

That's down sharply from 39.7 in July, and it represents the sixth straight month of decline.

The survey's activity outlook came in at 36.6, down from 45.1 in the previous month.

"Waning business sentiment is turning into a trend," ANZ Chief Economist Cameron Bagrie said. "The level of confidence is still consistent with solid momentum and growth."
