A vigil honoring the life of Dawnn Jaffier, who was shot and killed while attending a parade in Boston on Saturday, was held in Brighton Thursday night.Watch the reportMembers of Jaffier's family, close friends and colleagues gathered at Ringer Park by the West End House Boys and Girls Club on Allston Street where they reflected on her life and deep commitment to serving children and her community."There is sadness, yes, but there is so much joy too, because she spread joy through the lives of so many children and so many people throughout the community," Sandra Lopez said.Jaffier, 26, had just finished a summer working with children at the West End Boys and Girls Club."The city has lost a great person who basically was out there doing what we expect from all our youths," Bill Evans said.An 18-year-old Boston man has since been charged in Jaffier's killing.Keith Williams was arraigned Monday in Dorchester Municipal Court on gun charges of murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the fatal shooting.Police said they don't think Jaffier was the intended target of the shooting, which occurred near the parade associated with the city's annual Caribbean festival in Dorchester."Our hearts go out to the family on the loss of this this young lady who had everything going for her," Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans said.

Members of Jaffier's family, close friends and colleagues gathered at Ringer Park by the West End House Boys and Girls Club on Allston Street where they reflected on her life and deep commitment to serving children and her community.

An 18-year-old Boston man has since been charged in Jaffier's killing.

Keith Williams was arraigned Monday in Dorchester Municipal Court on gun charges of murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the fatal shooting.

Police said they don't think Jaffier was the intended target of the shooting, which occurred near the parade associated with the city's annual Caribbean festival in Dorchester.
