In China, 'struggle' ideology enters global age

Brimming with distrust of foreign powers, a recent essay by a top Communist Party scholar seems an accurate reflection of how the Chinese leadership views the world. It also provides a plausible ideological context for some of Beijing's recent moves, including a crackdown targeting foreign multinationals.

     Foreign governments and forces acting through them are trying to sideline China, which must fight long-term (figurative) battles at home and abroad over resources, its currency and other vital interests, Han Qingxiang argued in the party-run People's Daily.
