Days after reporting a nationwide outage, Time Warner Cable on Thursday admitted that customers were having problems accessing Microsoft-owned sites.
“We’re currently looking into difficulties accessing Microsoft sites. Unfortunately, we do not have additional details presently,” the company tweeted at 8:47 AM PT this morning.
While Time Warner Cable did not say specifically what sites were affected, some customers complained they or others could not access Office 365 servers or pull down Windows updates. By approximately noon, however, customers began tweeting that their issues had been resolved.
On Wednesday, an issue with Time Warner Cable’s Internet backbone disrupted the company’s Internet and on demand services. The disruption started at 4.30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time during routine network maintenance and affected all of the company’s Internet service subscribers, said Time Warner Cable spokeswoman Bobby Amirshahi in an email to the IDG News Service.
At the time, TWC customers had begun posting to social media sites that the TWC issue was a routing issue and they had been able to get around it by updating their router’s network settings to use DNS services supplied by Google or OpenDNS.
