Varanasi: The lawyers have decided to adopt warpath against the deteriorated power scene in the city from August 30, Saturday.
During a joint meeting of Central Bar Association and Banaras Bar Association the lawyers decided to boycott legal works on Saturday and stage a massive demonstration against prevailing power woes. They will also hold a meeting with office bearers of all traders unions, social organisations, political parties and public representatives to intensify the agitation.

A meeting of office bearers and members of both the bars was held under the leadership of CBA president Neelkanth Tiwari on Thursday afternoon. A senior lawyer Radheyshyam Chaubey proposed for launching a stir against the worsened power scene and the proposal was passed unanimously.
The speakers including BBA president Sanjay Verma, Ehtesham Abdi, Arun Kumar Tripathi, Ashok Singh Prince, Vanshidhar Singh and Satyendra Sinha expressed serious concern over the problems being faced by citizens. The speakers said not only the normal life of people had been affected badly but trade, industries and essential services are also suffering due to power cuts.
The lawyers said that due to frequent power cuts it was difficult to stay in chambers during court hours and preparations for arguments in courts was also not been done due to rostering in night hours. The participants said that their series of agitation will begin from Saturday with boycott of legal works and demonstration.
The lawyers will also submit a memorandum to the district magistrate Pranjal Yadav in this regard. They said that a joint meeting of different organizations has been convened to finalise the strategy for intensifying the agitation. They hinted for giving a call for Varanasi Bandh soon during the same meeting.
