The rupee ended 7 paise lower at 60.52 to a dollar against the previous close of 60.45 on month-end dollar demand from banks and importers. The US dollar index, which measures its strength against other currencies, was trading 0.06 per cent higher at 82.48 against the previous close of 82.42. Dealers are now awaiting the gross domestic product data due to be released on Friday for further near-term direction on the economy. In intra-day trade, the domestic unit touched a high of 60.36 and a low of 60.70.
