Take measures to reduce road accidents: J&K Governor to CM

SRINAGAR : Expressing grief over the loss of lives in Banihal road accident, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today urged the Chief Minister to personally review measures so far taken to reduce the incidence of recurring road accidents which result in the loss of innocent lives. Mr Vohra has expressed grief on the death of eight people in a road accident which occurred today at Nachalana-Sher Bibi in district Ramban.
He has conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. The Governor has wished speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.
An official statement issued here this evening said the Governor has, recalling earlier discussions and correspondence on the subject, urged the Chief Minister to personally review the status of the remedial measures so far taken to reduce the incidence of recurring road accidents which result in the loss of innocent lives. The Governor has also recalled his earlier suggestion that barriers and surveillance of speed should be enforced in the known areas where accidents take place every other day.
